What Is JBQ?
JBQ is a quizzing ministry that uses the Bible Fact-Pak as its foundational curriculum.
- The Bible Fact-Pak is a teaching tool that helps children learn, understand, and apply important Bible truths.
- It includes over 500 questions and answers. Some of the questions provide background about the Bible and its contents.
- Other questions explore the teachings and doctrine within the Bible. All of the questions together give children a solid basis for a strong and lasting relationship with God.
- The success of JBQ involves some exciting competition principles.
- During JBQ meets, two teams of four quizzers each sit behind a set of buzzers.
- Each quizzer may activate his own buzzer at any point during the reading of the question, and the first one to buzz in gets to answer.
- If the answer is correct, the quizzer’s team is awarded points based on the difficulty of the question.
- Through the competition of quizzing, children learn to win without boasting, lose without complaining, and treat opponents and officials with respect.

The Goal of JBQ
JBQ, based on cooperative competition, motivates children to learn the questions and answers in the Bible Fact-Pak and helps assess their knowledge. But the primary goal of JBQ is to plant the Word deep in the hearts of children so they may grow in close relationship with God. Elementary-age children, especially in grades three through six, are often referred to as being in the “golden age of memorization.” Poems, Bible verses, and stories learned at this age can usually be quoted for a lifetime. How important it is to capitalize on the ability to memorize God’s Word!

Junior Bible Quiz Divisions
West Florida has two active divisions:
Bronze Division
- Students who are age 7 or below on September 1 of the quiz season may quiz in the Bronze Division.
- Bronze quiz rooms use one quizmaster and one judge/scorekeeper.
- Bronze teams quiz only over 10-point questions, both quotes and non-quotes.
- The official guidelines will still be used to judge whether a question is correct or incorrect.
- Coaches and officials should use gentleness, encouragement, and lots of grace with our bronze quizzers!
- An official time out should be called if there are tears at the table.
- If something occurs that would be a foul, the foul should be explained, and questions will be substituted if needed according to the rules, but there will be no points assessed for fouls in the bronze division.
- Questions covered in Bronze Division: Meet 1—Questions 1-36; Meet 2- Questions 1-72; Meet 3- Questions 1-108; Meets 4 & 5- Questions 1-144.
- The Bronze Division quizzes from September to February; bronze teams do not participate in the Network Final. However, bronze quizzers may be moved to a gold team for the Network Final if a church desires to do so.
Gold Division
- Any eligible quizzer may quiz in the Gold Division.
- Fouls will be pointed out when they occur, but points will not be assessed for fouls until the January meet.
- The Gold Division quizzes all the questions in the Bible Fact-Pak.
- Questions covered in Gold Division:
- Meet 1- First 25% of each point value;
